SELAH: THE SACRED PAUSE
The word Selah, found in the Hebrew scriptures, has puzzled scholars and readers for millenia. Some believe it means to lift up, to raise your voice, swell the music, exalt God at this exact moment. Others, that it means to pause — stop, fall silent, let the music rest so you can weigh what was just sung. It signifies a moment to stop and notice God’s presence in and through the present moment. Every August we pause as a community, giving a break for volunteers, and change our rhythm for four weeks. This August we pause and say together, Selah.

Where in your life are you gripping something so tightly that your hands have forgotten how to open - and what would it mean to loosen even one finger this month?
what does being still actually look like for you? Is it a single breath, naming what isn't yours to carry, or the braver confession that you can't hold this alone and need to reach for help?
Like Moses, do you find yourself asking "who am I?" — what would change if you heard God answer not with who you are, but simply, "I AM — and I am already here"?
