ENGAGEMENT:

Moses was doing something admirable- giving himself completely to the people and Jethro still called it "not good," because it would wear out both Moses and the people he served. Where in your life is there something that looks like devotion but may be quietly crushing you? What would it mean to hear "this is not good —not because you don't care, but because you can't carry it alone"?

Jethro could see what Moses couldn't, because he stood outside the urgency and loved him enough to say the hard thing. Do you have a Jethro-someone close enough to watch you "from moming till evening" and tell you the truth? If not, what would it take to make room for them before you need them?

Where might you be called to be a Jethro for someone else, to lovingly name what their own urgency has hidden from them?
